Battle for a home semi-final
This Saturday, the 6th of May, the final round of Aviva Premiership will take place. This will be the final chance for Wasps, Chiefs, or Saracens to secure a home semi-final. Wasps are currently sitting at the top but their form has dropped off, with some nervous looking defensive efforts. Wasps will play Saracens at the Ricoh arena, where a win for Saracens will knock Wasps off the top spot, and out of the place for a home semi-final. This could prove a difficult task for Saracens as the Ricoh has become something of a fortress for Wasps in the last few years.
Exeter Chiefs are currently in 2nd place, with a chance at one of the two home semi-final sports. They face Gloucester, at Kingsholm. Exeter Chiefs are in fine form with 4 wins in a row. A win here could prove valuable in their bid to win the title, with a win securing a home semi-final.
Fight for the last playoff spot
Bath and Leicester are also going for the last spot in the playoffs. Bath are currently sitting on 58 points with Tigers sitting on 62. Tigers need to take the game to Worcester to ensure they don’t give away their semi-final spot. It has been a treacherous season for them with their management problems. They have won their last two, however, and you would put money on them beating 11th place Warriors.
Bath would need Tigers to lose to stand a chance at the playoffs. Bath are a decent form with three wins in a row one being a 58-5 beating of Falcons. Sharks are also coming into the game off the back off two losses. Bath should win this, but whether they get the last playoff spot is up to Tigers.
